What is pediatric surgery?

Pediatric surgery is a branch that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of congenital disorders in infants as well as acquired diseases and various traumas in childhood. Children's metabolisms, body structures and psychology are completely different from adults. Pediatric surgical applications performed during childhood should be planned individually according to the characteristics of the children.

Pediatric surgery deals with the treatment of surgical diseases of newborn, preschool and school age children up to the age of 15. Pediatric surgeons assist in the correction of congenital anomalies diagnosed before birth and congenital anomalies diagnosed after birth, and in the treatment of diseases that require surgical intervention that develops later.
